Newbie...

Hi there,
I'm new to this board but not to preg.org. I'm feeling a bit lost as to where I belong on boards. TTC 0-24 months seems to have newbies that jump from trying to being pregnant very fast. A lot of them are not dealing with the issues of infertility. And the infertility board seems dead. Although I am premature to coming to this board, hoping I can stick around and learn from you all.

A little bit about myself. I am 31, DH is 35. We are TTC #1. I have been previously married. My ex and I tried for over a year and a half. We didnt have any success. I was told finally that they wanted to do a laparoscopy for possible endo but by that time we were burned out and put it on the back burner. We were in our 20s and thought we had time. Our marriage ended and I decided to wait until I wanted to become pregnant again to go ahead with the laparoscopy. Now I currently have found my amazing husband. We tried for 6 months and then I decided I wanted to move ahead. I had the laparoscopy & chromotubation last week. They found 3 large fibroids and a closed left tube. No endometriosis. She said 1 fibroid may be causing infertility issues, but she can not know for sure. One is on the outside of my uterus and she said near my bowel, which could be causing my GI issues. So I have to have an additional surgery- Laparotomy to remove the fibroids. She said then I will go to the RE. She said because I want to be aggressive that she would recommend IVF. I do have insurance coverage (all though I know that they don't cover it all). She said I could keep trying and they could throw clomid at me but it might take a while and that I will have to decide. I have an appt on Aug 22 with her officially. So is there anyone out there with a similar situation? Any advice?

Thanks for listening! Looking forward to meeting you all!

Welcome!! I've never had any experience with fibroids so I can't give you any advice about that. If you are wanting to be fairly aggressive then IVF would be the answer. Do they tell you that there could be a change that you could get pregnant naturally after getting the fibroids removed? If you are willing to wait and give it some time then I'd try naturally.

Feel free to ask any questions. Someone here will have an answer for you.

The left tube being closed is the problem and the right was sluggish. So after the fibroids are out...they aren't sure about my chances getting pregnant naturally.
Thanks for the welcome!!! Smile

Yes, then it sounds like IVF would be your only option. Do you have an RE in mind?

I have 2 options. I think I have one I have in mind because it seems a little cheaper there. I am going to try to make an appt today!

I don't have any experience with fibroids either, but sorry you have to go through another surgery. Good luck in deciding on an RE and with your decisions.

Hi ladies!
Thank you so much for the warm welcome! Smile I did have my post op visit with my doc. She did say that she is sending me to the RE first before we move ahead with surgery. She wants her to discuss my fibroids, closed tube and how long we have been TTC. I am happy that I am going to the expert before I move ahead with another surgery. I'm sure my work will be less than thrilled with more time off. She said 6-8 wks for laparotomy. I am also anxious to hear what course of action she recommends. I really want a plan of attack and I am praying that I could possibly be in the running for a 2013 baby!! Fingers crossed. So now, we are waiting for my insurance authorization to go through. RE wouldn't even schedule an appointment till that is done. Regardless of coverage, I am going in. So I am frustrated that I can't make my appt. Receptionist did say she had plenty of sept slots open though. The OB/GYN clerk said that the authorization should be done by friday (last friday) and then RE will call me for appt. So naturally... I will be bugging them tomorrow!
@neoncandle- Thanks for the web site recommendations! I will be checking those out!!
Nice to meet you all!
