    Default QOTD 10/3

What is one of the best gifts you've received?

I used "one of the best" because I'm sure it will be hard to choose the best.

    Child , m/c mentioned...

One of the best gifts I've recieved was my 3 year wedding anniversary gift. My DH designed a mother's ring and had it made. We had the diamond for the April bday but had been holding off on having a ring made since we didn't know when our family would be complete. After coming to terms that our family was complete with the 3 we had he designed the ring with the help of the jeweler. He had each of the girls' birthstones put in there and a tiny blue heart for our baby we lost. The baby was due in March so it's March's birthstone. The jeweler wanted DH to put the heart stone more on the inside but he wanted it with the others since it was our child. and so it could be seen. When ppl look at it I'm sure it confuses them some why there are 4 stones on it. If they ask, I'll tell. We exchange traditional anniversary gifts and 3 year was leather. Since a ring is not leather he put it in a leather coin purse. So sweet and thoughtful. I have given up with trying to outdo DH with the whole gift thing. He's a very creative person.

That's a beautiful ring. I love what it symbolizes!

One of the best gifts I ever received was a Christmas gift from DH when we were still dating. He got me an original Wicked theatre book that had all the back stage information on the show. Tucked inside were two tickets to see Wicked in January. They were awesome seats 3 from the front row. I've since seen Wicked 3 times. I love it!

This is from Christmas 2010. We don't put any presents under the tree until Christmas Eve. We were putting out the presents and I noticed he just had one for me. I was so mad! I was cursing him the whole night and barely slept. I spent a lot of time picking out things that I knew he would love and Sean bought me one stupid thing. He had no idea I was mad at him.

Christmas morning he was so excited to give me the present and I was trying to act all excited and then I opened it..... a Sony ereader! I burst into tears and felt so bad that I was thinking mean thoughts. I am a huge reader, I read somewhere around 10 books/week. I had no clue that is what he was buying and I loved it so much. So much that for the birthday just passed he bought me a new one as my old one was no longer holding a charge.

Also, one Valentine's day he bought me a diamond solitaire necklace. He knew I wanted one and I had often teased him about not buying my jewelry ever (our wedding rings were from his parents, his dad died when he was 3) and so Sean surprised me with the necklace and since Valentine's is the anniversary of our first date it was extra special.

Steph...I love Wicked also. I've seen it twice. The first time was on Broadway in NYC. I really didn't think I'd like it since I don't like Wizard of Oz, but it was so much better. What a neat present.

Margaret...that's funny that you were upset with DH for getting you only one gift when it was actually a really nice gift. Wow...you read a lot!! I'm sure that diamond necklace was a nice surprise.

I love the ring. I think the cruise we took this summer was one of the best gifts my DH ever gave me. Planning it helped me survive the craziness of IVF. And it helped me during the 2 week window to plan all the wine I would drink in Italy... should I have been able to. Kept me sane. I would have never spent the money without his encouragement.
