What was your first paying job?
I worked in the bakery at a grocery store when I turned 16. I didn't need to get a job at that age but my parents told me if I wanted a nicer car instead of the one they bought me, I could work and buy one myself, so that's what I did.
I did a ton of babysitting starting when I was 11, so technically that was the first paying job. I started as a cashier in a grocery store when I was 18.
True...babysitting was probably my first paying job also. I did a few babysitting jobs. Not many since I lived in the country.
I was babysitting my nephews when I was 11 (the joys of being the youngest in a large family), but during high school I was making over $100/week babysitting and that was mid to late '80s. That is why I kept up with it. I actually went from babysitting to working as a nanny to pay for university.
I started babysitting when I was $11. My first paycheck job was at Petco. I really learned valuable skills from that job.
I fried chicken in a deli when I was 16. It was horrible. I just in the last year have been able to eat fried chicken again. It was traumatizing...hehe.
