RE?

Hi all. Just look for advice. DH and I have our first visit with an RE on Monday.

A little background....We have been TTC for 18 months. After 14 months went to the OBGYN and she did initial tests that all came back good, including DH's sperm count, so she put me on Clomid for 3 cycles and all resulted in BFNs.

Our insurance will cover the cost of our first consultation and tests but they do not cover any treatment cycles (bummer).

Anyway, just wondering what are some important questions I should ask? This is all so new and kind of unreal- and considering this is the only appt. insurance will cover- I want to make sure I get my money's worth if you know I'm saying lol

Thanks ladies!

I guess I would ask if there were any testing that he thinks would be appropriate. There are probably tests that he'd do that your ob/gyn wouldn't have thought of. Once you know the results of those tests, then he could tell you if he thought IVF or IUI would work better. It's kind of hard to tell you what exactly to ask when you don't really have a diagnosis yet, if you know what I mean. I guess I would go in there wanting to find out a diagnosis if possible. Good luck tomorrow and update us on how your appt went.

I may be a little late with this but wanted to add that I would see if your RE does any bloodwork. They can check your thyroid levels as well as your FSH and AMH levels. I think the key is that you both feel like you are on the same page, working towards the same goal. Good luck and KUP :goodluck:

Hi ladies! Thanks so much for all your kinds words and advice! DH and I said the same thing as we walked out of the RE.. "Why didn't we make an appt. sooner?" Our doctor totally put us at ease and seemed pretty confident that one way or another, I will eventually get pregnant. It was just really nice to hear some one saying it because I go through moments where I wonder if it can ever happen. I know it hasn't been terribly long for us, but I think some of you can sympathize with that feeling. I'm a bit of a control freak so having no control over TTC has been difficult- after seeing the RE I feel like maybe we can control this thing a little Wink

So they did initial blood work including FSH, blood type and a few other things that I forget but everything came back looking great. I had an HSG on Friday (OUCH) and, again, everything looked great. No problems have been detected so far.

So I'm on Femara and will get a trigger shot on Thursday if my follicles look good. Right now were are still using good old BD and won't move to IUI unless t he results of the post-coital, which is also happening on Thurs, are not good.

Sorry it took me so long to update- things have been crazy around here- but it is nice to hear from other ladies who can share the feelings I have really on shared with DH over the past 2 years. You ladies rock! Blum 3
