Retrieval scheduled

for Wednesday!! My E2 today is 4870 and my P4 still 1.8! They started me on something to lower my risk for OHSS. I will be googling it later Wink I am so excited for Wednesday Smile

Congrats!!! I took something to reduce my risks of OHSS. My RE got nervous if the E2 got over 3000. What is it you are taking? What I took was something used in cancer pts. How did things look today? Obviously good if you scheduled ER.

Congrats! How exciting. Sounds like your re is pleased with your response and that's what matters. Hoping they get lots of mature eggs Smile

On a side note... I just checked my cycle notes and on Day 12 of stims (my last day of stims) my E2 was 9,500. My RE was not concerned at all with that number indicating OHSS and I never had any signs of it nor did I develop it. So I'm just wondering from you gals is it purely E2 levels that your REs were worried about or was it E2 combined with other results and/or issues? I'm just curious for my own knowledge.

xo

OHSS was never a concern for me. Hopefully, it isn't something you will have to deal with. Very exciting to hear that your ER is tomorrow! Hope you recover quickly and find you have lots of eggs in a petri dish! Wink

With my 2nd ER I only had 6 eggs retrieved and very low E2 numbers. The evening of ER I was miserable and in so much pain. I'm sure I had OHSS with that few eggs retrieved. I'm sure OHSS varies person to person. Before my trigger of my 3rd ER my E2 was 2900 so my RE gave me meds after ER to help with OHSS. It worked because I felt fine after that ER. Every clinic has their own protocols.

I do not have any signs of OHSS at this point. They told me yesterday that anyone with an E2 of 3000+ is at a higher risk. So, I think its just a precaution. For those with IVF experience..did you take time off for the retrieval and/or transfer??? I am taking tomorrow and Thursday and then Monday thru Wednesday next week. I am considering more time next week so any input would help. Thanks!

Yay!! This is exciting!!

I took off that day for sure I remember, might have even taken the day after. I just remember having bad cramps after the retrieval. The nurse said it was normal. I had, I think, 23 eggs retrieved from me and the way she explained it was - your body is normally used to producing one mature egg and so your ovaries are a little over extended and then when they take them out your body immediately begins to try to "heal" so I remember having cramping for sure but it wasnt too too bad but I did just want to lay around.

I hope you get some good results tomorrow!! and get lots of good eggs!! My fingers are crossed for you!!

Good luck today!! Update us as soon as you feel up to it. Hoping you get lots of eggies.

My 1st and 3rd ER I felt fine the day of and following. My 2nd ER I was miserable until transfer. I laid on the couch most of the time and would get so weak and short of breath just getting up. Each cycle is different, but you should be fine with what you are taking off of work.

Wow!! 32 is incredible!!! Congrats!! The time you took off sounds pretty good. My 2 IVF rounds were totally different. I felt fine after my 1st retrieval but I'm still a little sore over 3 weeks later after this round.

I had no idea some places had you awake during it. I was under sedation for both. Hope ur feeling good. KUP.

I don't think I was intentionally awake. I heard the Dr say she's way too alert and they would continue to give versed and fentanyl. I would much rather have been totally knocked out! Not to mention I am having awful pain now. I can't adjust in the chair..go to the bathroom or breathe without discomfort. However maybe we will have good ones to freeze and I will never have to do this again. I know it will be well worth it!

Are you drinking plenty of fluids, esp. something with electrolytes? Keep a close eye on yourself for OHSS. You sound kind of like I did after my 2nd ER. I had such horrible pain in my shoulders also.

During my first ER I was awake and remember everything. It does hurt really bad. I could feel everytime they'd puncture my ovaries. They told me that I wouldn't ever close my eyes. The next ER they gave me double the meds and I somewhat remember some of it.

Hope you can get comfortable. Call your doc with any concerns or questions!

I was never given anything for my retrieval except Tylenol LOL It was pretty uncomfortble, I will admit

32 eggs is incredible! Can't wait to hear your fert report! Hope you avoid OHSS and start feeling better soon.

I was completely out of it for my first retrieval; I think they cheated me out of some of the meds with the second one...ouch. Can't imagine just getting Tylenol. Seems like the military does things that way though.
