Default Vanishing twin poss loss ment also Preg ment

Hey ladies hope that you are all doing well. I am not sure where to ask this question I put it on my birthboard and searced online and I also put in a call to my docs office, but wanted to know if anyone has been through this.
I went and got my gender scan this weekend, the last time I had a u/s was 8 weeks. There were 2 sacs, my heart skpped a beat. She sounded worried and asked if there should be only one and I said yes, she quickly moved it so we could only see the sweet baby girl on the other side. But she did keep asking me questions like did i ever see the heartbeat on the other ect.... From everything I read online the body would reabsorb the other sac and placenta, It looked large to me..... Everyone one that I found was gone by this point that I am. I am 16 weeks. All the stories I found was that the contents were gone during the first trimester. Now I am scared to dealth that this will cause me problems. Waiting on the doc to call me back. ............

Hmmmm....not sure on this one Candice. I am glad you have a call in to the doctor. Sometimes the techs don't always know what they are looking at. A friend of mine had a vanishing twin (naturally) so I will ask her.

At 5 weeks there looked like 2. At 8 weeks there was only one.
My doc did not seem concerned and said that we would leave my appoinment as it was and that I should not worry. So I guess I am less worried now sort of.......

    Hey Candice,

I wish I had some info to give you but I dont. If its worrying you, call your doctor and make sure you ask again. If he says its nothing to worry about then try not to. Congrats on the baby girl!!

Hey Candice -- wow, that would be kinda freaky to see a second sac there when you weren't expecting it! We had a vanishing twin with our first pregnancy, and the empty sac was gone when I went for my last RE appt at around 11.5 weeks. So I don't know what to tell you. Was there a placenta at this last scan? I wonder what kind of problems it could cause really?

Yes there was a placenta in the sac. SHe only glanced at it and did not investigate.
SHe said that it was probably left over placenta.
I can see the video that she gave us that there is something in the sac. It only shows for a few seconds before she moves it to the other baby.
The doc said that they would investigate at 20 week scan.
I wonder if this will mess up my quad screen test?

I haven't heard of that at that point in the pregnancy either. But it's very reassuring that the dr didn't seem worried. Keep us updated with the next US.
