Is your baby monitor a safety threat by hackers?

As parents, we do whatever we can to keep our children safe. We baby-proof the home, investigate caregivers, research everything from cribs to car seats for the highest safety ratings and more. Did you know, however, that one of the very products designed to keep watch on your little one(s) may instead be making your family vulnerable to predators?

That was really scary!!!
I refuse to have a plain old video monitor because I have heard of orople being able to tune in and wYch.
Plus on a silly note.. I have seen too many horrors to get one Smile
I hate it when my Wilkie talkie monitor cracked for no reason as I think someone may be able to listen.
But those wifi monitors... Wouldn't go near them ever.

Many moons ago, I had an audio (walkie style) monitor. It worked fine until I heard someone else's voice over (talking to their kid in another home.) Like you shared -- I was horrified to think that just as I could hear their conversation, others may have been listening to ours. I tossed it! LOL

Having someone listen in is one thing, a bit disturbing yes. But, having someone watching you, or your baby through the baby monitor? That is just incredibly creepy! Technology is a wonderful thing most of the time, but it can certainly make us vulnerable in ways we never dreamed!
