Fergie to play new role as mom "by ear"
by Missy Jaramillo
If you're nervous heading into your first pregnancy, you aren't alone! Even celebrities have a difficult time adjusting to the idea of being a parent, including the lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas, Fergie. Recently, the songstress announced that she is expecting her first child with husband Josh Duhamel. Ever since, the two have been questioned constantly by the media about how they're preparing for their little bundle of joy. Fergie hasn't been shy about confirming her lack of knowledge on motherhood.
"I have no idea what I'm doing!" the pop star said during her appearance on "Good Morning America," according to USA Today. "I'm just going to play it by ear and see how things go, and let the natural instincts kick in."
On top of confessing her worries, Fergie was honest about how she's coping with first trimester symptoms such as morning sickness. The singer claims that Chinese herbs and acupuncture have been helping her beat nausea.
Key tips for new moms
Once the pregnancy is over, there are a few tips you'll want to take into account to make your job as a new mom a little easier. First, you may want to take a cue from Fergie and learn to go with your gut! Your motherhood instincts can be critical as you look to maintain the well-being of your child. Next, don't underestimate the power of sleep. Chances are, you won't be getting much of it in the middle of the night. However, napping whenever you can during the day can keep you energized. Finally, remember to ask for help when you need it, whether it be from your spouse or a relative.
