Hilaria Thomas, the young yoga instructor renowned for tying the knot with Alec Baldwin, has been in the spotlight for her pregnancy ever since she announced it last year. Now, the word is finally out on the gender of her new baby - it's a girl!
Us Weekly reported that Thomas and Baldwin are expecting a little girl, which was confirmed on the television show, "Extra." The couple walked down the aisle in 2012, and Baldwin already has a 17-year-old daughter with his ex-wife, Kim Basinger. Evidently, Thomas is already trying to fine-tune her parenting knowledge by hitting the books.
"I'm reading a lot, although I'm learning it's not good to read too far in advance because then you freak out," Thomas told the news source. "I saw a birthing video the other day and I was like, 'That's too much information for me! I don't want to know that yet!'"
Determining a baby's gender
While you may be excited to find out the gender of your unborn child as soon as you confirm that you're expecting, you'll have to wait until you're a little further along in your pregnancy calendar for this news. Specifically, the sex is typically determined during the ultrasound that takes place 18 to 20 weeks into the pregnancy. However, you may still need to exercise a bit of patience after this point depending on the position of your baby. On occasion, the direction of the child in the womb can make it challenging to identify its sex in the initial ultrasound. If this happens, you may want to just keep it a surprise!
