I don't know that any of
I don't know that any of these shock me as much as I'm glad that some of them are being passed. Especially the one in Colorado about the head injury. I thought this article as a whole was interesting because my oldest a few years ago looked up odd laws on the books. And in WA State it is apparently illegal to sell meat on Sundays or carry an ice cream cone in your back pocket. But if you want to carry an ice cream cone in your back pocket any other day of the week feel free. LOL
Good grief! You can't trust
Good grief! You can't trust anyone not be be deceptive. I hope most stores have enough integrity and respect for their customers to not sell expired products.

This is another one of those "Why couldn't *I* think of that!?" ideas! Kudos though to both the founder AND even more so to the teachers supplementing their income (to the point of retirement! $700,000 is amazing!) I love the ideas and believe that in the end the kids will be the benefactors of all this creativity which can't be a bad thing! Thanks for sharing!
Mom Delivers 13-Pound Baby Naturally
A mom recently gave birth to a 13-pound baby...naturally. To borrow a recent popular headline, "Are YOU mom enough?" Few women might be -- could you?

wow! my husband was ~12 lbs at birth. His mom had no doctor because he thought the midwife would show. The midwife fell asleep on her shift and so she did it all by herself. All the while helping the women in the bed beside her deliver a breech baby! |
How a Kindergarten Teacher Earned $700,000
A relatively new website is not only helping teachers out but it's paying them pretty handsomely. "Teachers Pay Teachers" is a company started to help teachers with their lesson plans. It was founded by Paul Edelman, after he ended a four year stint with the New York City public schools.

U.S. preterm births hit new low - still work to do!
The March of Dimes just released the 2012 Premature Birth Report Card. The U.S. has hit a new 10 year low for preterm births -- a significant improvement now registering at 11.7%! Still, overall, the U.S. scores a "C" as we continue to have a high rate of preterm births comparatively. This is a clear indication of work to be done! Making time to grieve.
Pregnancy and infant loss is never easy. The passing often takes with it shattered hearts and dreams of a future far different than the reality. Having to go through this process while still being called on to serve others -- whether that role is bearing work responsibilities, as "mom" for other children, coping with deteriorating health of parents or in-laws, or simply juggling your relationship with your partner -- 'overwhelming' doesn't even come close.

Thank you, Missy. Today, on Infant and Pregnancy Loss Remembrance Day, we have a special opportunity to recall our babies and reach out to other who are experiencing or have recently had a loss. I appreciate your post and your compassionate outreach over the years. My story: Before my child's death -- at 14 weeks -- I never knew how great a loss a miscarriage was. Now, I mourned for a child that I would never hold, that I would never touch. I missed the heartbeat that I would never hear again and the movement that I would never feel. I had such emptiness inside my heart. I felt guilty that I wasn't able to provide a safe place for this baby to grow. Would my baby know how much we would have loved him? Would he know what a welcome his brother and sisters had planned? My world had become gray. When would the pain lessen? You can read the rest of the article about my pregnancy loss here. |
