Pregnant celebrities share their cravings

Pregnancy brings on many changes in the body, and the often indulgent, occasionally odd food cravings that pregnant women experience comprise one of the most common. Whether expectant moms hunger for carbs, sweets or savory foods, they're likely to find themselves eating quite differently than they otherwise would.

Celebrities are no exception to this rule, and several pregnant stars have recently gone public with their cravings.

Gwen Stefani, Kristin Cavallari go for sugar
Many women find that sweet treats taste particularly good during pregnancy, and two celebs are in agreement on this point.

According to the Daily Mail, singer Gwen Stefani was recently spotted walking the streets of Los Angeles with husband Gavin Rossdale in search of the made-from-scratch desserts served up at Sweet Butter Kitchen. During the jaunt, Stefani, now pregnant with her third child, was looking as stylish as ever in dark sunglasses and a sleek, gray tweed coat. Though we can't be sure what she purchased, she was seen later with a brown paper bag bearing Sweet Butter's logo.

Meanwhile, "Dancing with the Stars" feature Kristin Cavallari told People magazine that she's been combating her sugar craving.

"I went through a really heavy sugar phase for about two weeks, and then I had to back off a little bit," Cavallari told the news source. "First trimester for both of my pregnancies has been a lot of carbs and sugar, and then in the second trimester I snap out of the tiredness and can start eating healthy again and working out a little bit more."

Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett, Kimberly Van Der Beek opt for unusual flavors
Not all pregnant celebs share Stefani and Cavallari's tastes, however. Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett told E! News that her second pregnancy has given her somewhat eccentric cravings. While the star now finds chicken unappealing, she's developed an affinity for hearts of palm, deviled eggs, "pickle-y flavors" and other strong tastes. She also told the news source that she's been exercising and eating more healthfully since becoming pregnant.

On the other hand, Kimberly Van Der Beek, blogger and wife of actor James Van Der Beek, found herself with a craving that was a bit harder to satisfy. She recently told People that although she doesn't get cravings often, when she does, they're for a very specific treat.

"I wanted non-gelatin Gummy Bears," Van Der Beek told the news source. "The only place I knew to get those was the U.K."
