QUESTION

Hi,
My name is India, and I was already overweight when I became pregnant. I weighed around 185 or so,and I'm only 5'3.

Now I'm 6 months pregnant, I weigh 195 and I would like to start loosing weight now, nothing that would harm my baby of course. I started walking on my treadmill. I wanted to try to do this twice a day, 45 minutes both times. Is this ok?

QUESTION

Dear Fitness Expert,
I just found out that I am one month pregnant. I am on a very tight budget so it is difficult for me to go to the gym. I attend classes full time and I work full time.

I would like to know what is the safest way for me to get a workout that won't be harmful to my baby. I am also overweight and am concerned about my weight gain during my pregnancy. Please help me.

QUESTION

Dear Fitness Expert,
My husband and I are now planning for a baby very soon and want to get our bodies in shape both mentally and physically. I am uncertain if I should join a gym for physical fitness.

Our daily course of work is not physically demanding. My husband is very active in his gym training and has been doing weights for months. I, on the other hand, have been very lazy but I want to do some sort of a physical exercise now. My body mass weight is in proportion to my height. I'm 5'6 and weigh 58kgs.

I really like dance-aerobics or aerobics...

QUESTION

Dear Fitness Expert,
I am now 29 weeks pregnant. I just wanted to know if it is safe to use the elliptical machine without the arm handles at the gym. Before I got pregnant I would stay on it for 2 hours / 13 miles. I do at least an hour now at the low intense level.

I have asked 3 doctors at the practice during my appointments and everyone has a different answer. I don't know what I should do, and going to the gym makes me feel better and have been going everyday for 10 years. Is it safe?

Thank You,
Kat

Exercise After Intrauterine Insemination

QUESTION

Dear Fitness Expert,
My husband and I have been trying for 1 1/2; years to conceive and are now under the care of a reproductive endocrinologist. I have been an avid runner and do some moderate weight lifting for about 6 years now. We had the Intrauterine Insemination a little over a week ago and I am dying to work out, but many people have said to just hang tight for a couple of weeks.

Is this necessary? Will running or lifting some weights have any affect on conception? Please advise...
