gender prediction and conception date

this is my first scan and the tech says is likely a girl because of the three lines.(nena means girl in Spanish). the thing is that i have a problem with the dates. from what i was told if you are 16 weeks pregnant then your baby is 14 weeks approximately from the date of conception. well, my problem is that i was charting and i ovulated 24 days after my period, almost a whole month. does that puts my baby at 13 weeks from the date of conception and thus predicting the gender would be inaccurate?

Who should I believe Sonographer or Doctor?

Dear Ms.Ultrasound

At 23 weeks I had a u/s scan done and was told by the sonographer that I'm having a girl. She appeared to be confident in her answer. At 35 weeks I had a u/s scan done to make sure baby wasn't breech inside my doctor's office and he said "It's a boy right?" I explained to him that I was told I'm having a girl and he said he might have read the sono wrong. Who do you think is more accurate?

Thank you

Are My Ultrasound Measurements in the Normal Range?

Jane Foley's picture

QUESTION

Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
My ultrasound measurements today at 33 weeks and 3 days were: AC - 250.9 mm HC - 289.4 Femur - 60.8

I was just wondering if these were normal as they seem small to me. My doctor isn't worried and says it's well within normal. He has asked to re-scan me in 2 weeks and if the growth has slowed again he will take baby out. The growth has slowed a bit from 30 weeks.

Is it normal to wait 2 weeks with baby not growing well?? Do babies like this ever stop growing?? Will it be ok to wait 2 weeks??

QUESTION

Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
Just a little background quickly, I have three kids with my husband. When our youngest was born, I had my tubes tied. I was told before I had it done that because I was under the age of 26 or 27, that they wouldn't cut/cauterize my tubes, but they could clamp or tie them.

I am one to write down dreams that stick out to me. So, when I woke up one morning back in December, I had to write down the dream that I had the previous night just before waking up.

Ultrasound and Dream Accuracy

QUESTION

Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
I was delighted to find you when I googled dreams and ultrasounds.

I have two children and with each child I dreamed what I was having and all my dreams were correct. With my daughter (first child) I thought I was having a boy but had several dreams where I saw a girl and sure enough I had a girl. With my son same thing, had a dream he was a boy and boy he is.

QUESTION

Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
I am currently about 18 wks 5 or 6 days pregnant. I have 2 kids currently and this will be my 3rd birth.

My first child I had at 26 wks due to a placental abruption with no known cause. My 2nd my water broke at about 36 wks.

I just had a ultrasound and they have told me that I have polyhydramnios. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Recurring Pregnancy Dreams

Jane Foley's picture

QUESTION

Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
My name is Kim. For the past few weeks now I have been having dreams that I am pregnant.Sometimes, I am in mid pregnancy and I can literally feel the baby moving. Then there was a dream that I was only 2 months along.

I will admit, I am wanting to be a mother very much. It is a strong desire. I do not know what the dreams mean, if anything. Yet, they are so real. At the time of the dreams, I wasn't thinking of it at all.

I also feel a boy. What is the meaning to these?

Thank you so much.
Kim
