We're built By Parents, For Parents™. We've banded together to build a website to educate, empower, and connect ourselves, other parents, and people trying to become parents. We're doing this out of our love for children, and our desire to do our best raising them to become good adults. We believe parenting is a sacred responsibility.

question
Going trick-or-treating?
Children have a blast trick-or-treating and parents are pleased at the opportunity to show off their costumed charmers. Unfortunately, though, there are reasons to use caution before allowing kids (or you!) to dive into the treats! Read "Halloween candy safety tips" to keep you all safe this Halloween!

Do you take your kids trick-or-treating? How long do you typically stay out for?
question
A haunted gingerbread house? What do you think?
Santa won't be stopping by *this* house! Drop by our "Build a haunted gingerbread house" as you make your plans this Halloween season. Unlike its more cheerful holiday counterpart, this edible craft simply exudes an eeriness that tempts you to play the opening chords of "Thriller"… all with yummy concoctions -- to die for! If you make one, please come back and share a picture!

What do you think of this project? Will you be trying it out?
question
Midwife or OB/GYN?
Selecting a caregiver is one of the most important decisions you make for both you and your baby. It likely will determine what type of birth experience you can expect as well as dictate where you may deliver. Visit "Midwife or OB/GYN -- which is best for me?" to help you assess which is right for you! Which do you plan on using (or did you?)
question
Halloween -- how scary is too scary?
Parents have been having this "discussion" for ages. Some find Halloween the perfect time to introduce their children to overcome fears through harmless fright. Others prefer to play it safe -- sticking to cute vs. scary. Some draw an imaginary line in the sand at slightly creepy before it enters sheer terror. Read what our members had to say in Halloween -- how scary is too scary? Which category do you fall in? Share in the comments!
question
What are you looking forward to the most?
Be on the lookout for this week's features! Each day we have a touch of "spooky" planned as Halloween creeps in. You'll discover "Halloween -- how scary is too scary (launching today!); plans to build your own haunted gingerbread house; trending costumes for pregnant gals, Halloween candy safety tips; how to have a green Halloween; and Halloween Face Painting for kids!

Additionally, you'll find a little something for everyone! Midwife or OB/GYN launches tomorrow. On Thursday, we cover "Save a breast -- do the stroke!" -- an important read for all women! Friday, those with elementary age and older kids should watch for our "New school lunches" coverage. We also will share a scrumptious twist on a favorite recipe with "Chipotle mashed sweet potatoes." There's always something special happening here! Remember, we want to hear your feedback! Which of these are you looking forward to most?

question
Have you taken...?
Have you taken your folic acid today? Many doctors recommend all women of child-bearing age insure that they add this important nutrient to their daily intake to reduce your risk of birth defects such as spina bifida. Check out "Folic Acid Critical for Early Embryonic Development" to learn more!

What source do you use primarily to add folate to your diet? Do you continue to maintain folic acid even when you are not pregnant?
