I think that number is amazing!!! Way to go!!!!

Had some trouble posting on here so I didn't get in on this but my numbers weren't huge. I really wish I breast fed my second longer, but I quit due to medical reasons. DD1: 3 months DD2: 1 week

Hey there! Sorry you had issues but glad you joined in! I'll drop you a pm to check in with you and walk you through updating your profile pic, etc. As for your numbers -- you did terrific! While I recognize you would have preferred to breastfeed longer, it's great that you did what you could!

Children Left Alone in Cars Increases at Alarming Rates

It's not hard to imagine this as a common scenario. The baby finally fell asleep in her car seat. Mom or dad just needs to run into the store for "a minute." A minute turns into 20. That’s all it took for their baby to die of heat stroke. Hard to believe this can happen? Believe it! Three children died last week in this same scenario.

Please share this article with as many as possible. It is true, that there are cases where perhaps the intent is malicious or self-serving (leaving the child locked in a car to go in a bar)... but other families find that their lives are ripped by this as a tragic ACCIDENT. The families love their children dearly... some have had siblings that not only lose their brother or sister -- but also often mom and dad to their grief (if not to jail.) Reading recent cases, I've seen the parents vilified. OF COURSE this should NEVER happen! I, too, am horrified at the thought of leaving one of my own in the car. My children laugh and tease me as I do my "kid count" as we enter and exit the car... running through where ALL my children are -- even those not traveling with me at the time. But, I recognize "there but for the grace of God, go I." If this, at times, annoys my kids (or my dh makes fun), it is a "sacrifice" I'm willing to make. We are all creatures of habit. I know as life seems to grow ever more hectic, we are pulled in 20 different directions at any given moment. Often we drive home (or to work, practice, etc.) on auto-pilot as we are working out what's for dinner, what chores lie ahead, who needs to be where" and more. Add into the mix the constant interference of "technology" -- computers, cell phones, texting, Facebook, etc. -- and we enter information overload. We must find a way to slow down, unplug, and instead plug IN -- to our most precious treasures... our family. Whatever trick you need to personally employ to implement your own "kid count" before getting out and locking your vehicle... do so. If putting your purse / wallet or cell phone back with your child(ren) helps -- DO IT! (For those that mock... NO that does NOT mean a parent values their child more than their purse/cell! It means that they care about their child enough to do whatever it takes to try and keep them safe!)

How Long Did You Breastfeed? Post Your Total (WBW Event!)

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is here August 1st - August 7th! This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the WBW event. Pregnancy.org is proud to continue our efforts to provide our members and our viewing audience with resources, support,and encouragement needed throughout their breastfeeding relationship with their baby!

One of our favorite activities throughout this week-long celebration is to celebrate the breastfeeding efforts of our members -- both individually *and* as a community! We invite you to join in by clicking "show conversation" and leave your response as a comment!

We need EVERYONE that has even attempted breastfeeding to join in! Add your stats for the number of days, months, or YEARS that you have breastfed your little one. No amount is too small to be included! Have more than one child? You can list them all! Be sure to help us spread the word! Invite your family and friends onsite, via email, on Facebook, and more to join the site and add to the conversation. The more, the better to celebrate!

No need to do the math. Just post the time you have spent (either currently or years ago!) breastfeeding! I breastfed my now very large almost 16 year old for 24 months! Happy World Breastfeeding Week to everyone! :) Don't forget to friend this page and friend each other! :)

Breastfed my son for 20 months!

Yay!!! I love this week. This year is bittersweet for me. My last baby just weaned and the amount of time I've spent breastfeeding will no longer increase. In years past, I always felt proud that I would be adding to that year's total. My son nursed for 17 months and 2 weeks My daughter nursed for 25 months 2 weeks A grand total breastfeeding career of 43 months. :)

i am very proud that i breastfed all 5 of my kids for their 1st year of life + a little... sarah=13 months max = 13 months lucy = 15 months abby=12 months jack = 13 months i am done having babies, so this will be my annual total to add in... 66 months :)

DS - 10 months DD - 8 months and counting

We breastfed for 13 months, when DD decided she was done. That was almost exactly one year ago...bittersweet for me too!

Only 3 months for my son, but so far 4 months down for my daughter and still going! total 7 months (so far!)

With DS1 I nursed for 14.5 months until he passed away. For DD I nursed for about 13-14mo until she quit. For DS2 I nursed for about 18 mos.

I nursed my son for 17 months!

I nursed my first son 19 months I nursed my second son 25 months I nursed my third son 2 months and we are still going

DD1: 6 months DD2: 10 months and counting.

10.5 weeks and counting!!

6 months DS1 21.5 months and counting DS2 3.5 months and counting DS3

DS1-2 months DS2-15 months DS3-8 months and still breast feeding! Whoop! Whoop!!

Hi everyone! Just a friendly tip -- please update your profiles, add a picture and click "create member page" -- friend this page, and others! It's a great way to keep up with everyone! Congrats to everyone here!

I breastfed my ds1 for 17 months, my dd for 15 months and I am currently breastfeeding my 8 month old. He will nurse for at least another 7 or 8 months, maybe longer.

I breastfed DD1 for 12 months (she weaned herself) and DD2 for her whole life (she's 9 days old today). We'll try for a year or more. I do work full-time and sometimes pump 5 times a day. It's not easy but it's worth it.

I BFed exclusively for 3 months and then had to start supplementing when I went back to work. We just stopped completely at 7 months and I miss it :( P.S. I can't figure out how to change my picture!

DS1 for 13 months DS2 for 10 almost 11 months DD for 12 almost 13 months

DS1 was for 7 months and DS2 was for 14 months

18 months for DD1. 13 months and still going for DD2

Happy WBW! I breastfed for 5-6 months for both and loved every second. Unfortunately something in my body reduced milk production like clockwork for both kids at the same time and I could never get it back to continue. Congrats to this great community.

22 months & counting!

8 months for my twins, and 11 months for DD3

I breastfeed my sons for 14 months, my first daughter for 8 months and 1 month for my second daughter.

I breastfed my daughter for ~45 months. I remember that May, two months short of her birthday, that she remarked that she hadn't needed "nurking" to go to sleep for a couple of weeks. I've been breastfeeding my son for three years this Sunday! Happy Breastfeeding Week!!!

DS1 - 17 months DD = 19 months DS2 = 38 months - and he just weaned himself last month... so a little sad that it's all over for me too... Total - 74 months... WOW!

DD is going on 28 mos, and DS is on 2!

I always feel a little like I'm cheating but it's six kids worth of nursing, and a couple months tandem nursing... 36 + 28 + 38 + 32 + 30 + 37 = 201

My first I EPed for 1 year. My second I breastfed for 2.75 years!

This week has truly been a time of reflection for me. Like Julie, my numbers cover my large family -- all that I have been grateful to breastfeed for an average of 2 + years -- and my youngest continues... for a total of 205.5 months. I recognize that women around the world continue to be challenged in their efforts to breastfeed their babies! I am incredibly grateful to have been a part of this effort over the past ___ (um...... more years that I could POSSIBLY be!! LOL) and hope that I can continue to join with all of YOU as together we strive to empower, encourage, and support others in establishing their breastfeeding relationship with their own babies (and beyond!)
