Dear Pet Expert,
I'm 3½ months along with my first child. My husband and I just got a new kitten, and I've had seven different relatives tell me that I can't touch cat litter. Is there any truth to this anymore, or was this a problem years ago and the new litter has different effects, or is it just the urine?
Is there anything else I should know about kittens and pregnancy? Is there any possibility of baby developing allergies because we have a cat?
Can a person successfully carry a baby that was conceived while an IUD was in place? The symptoms of pregnancy were all there and a test came out positive. I began bleeding and passing softball sized clots. Is that a possible miscarriage?
I ate a little bit of unpasteurized cheese while in Canada at 6 weeks pregnant. Is there anything I should do to make sure it did not contain listeria?
Dear Fitness Expert,
It seems I have badly strained my intercostal muscles on my right side. The soreness and pain can be pretty excruciating at times particularly when sneezing (felt an actual pop in that area tonight), coughing, and when swimming (I had to give up my 8 miles/week when I had pain when breathing). I want to get back to it slowly but this pain will not subside at all. Each sneeze makes it worse and sleeping stiffens me up.
It sure is a good day for my husband to get called into work. As soon as he goes to work this morning, I must run to the drug store and pick up an el-cheapo brand home pregnancy test.
The following is a list of information your doctor will need/ask from you after you have had more than three miscarriages (Habitual Abortions).
Dear Fitness Expert,
My name is Lili and about six years ago you interviewed me for your book, Entering the Mother Zone. I was one of the "less famous" mothers that was working out with Dr. Barbara Bergman in Columbus, OH. I enjoyed your book very much and referred to it often.
I just wanted to give you an update and let you know that after several years collecting dust under a bed, I have finally pulled your book out again for motivation. After the "textbook" pregnancy you wrote about in the book, I had six more pregnancies -- all ending in miscarriage.
According to my LMP I am 8 weeks pregnant. I went in to see my doctor for the first time yesterday and he gave me a transvaginal ultrasound. According to the ultrasound, my baby is measuring 6 weeks.
I am really concerned because I am certain that I am 8 weeks pregnant, or close to it, because I took an ovulation predictor test and I tested positive for a pregnancy test a bit more than two weeks later.
I'm seven month pregnant and at my checkup today, the doctor thought he heard a heart murmur. He has ordered an echocardiogram. What's the procedure like? Can something harmless mimic a heart murmur?
