Dear Midwife,
I am 23 weeks pregnant with my third child. I had two very straightforward pregnancy with my previous two children, apart from a breech which ended up in a caesarean.

This pregnancy has been problematic since the very beginning with cramping and red bleeding on and off during the first trimester and constant headaches(despite normal blood pressure).

Sweet Pumpkin #5

Today I am 19 weeks and 2 days along! So happy! I am feeling our little pumpkin moving around more each day and remembering what an awesome feeling it is. It is so hard to believe that there is this precious life growing inside of you and then when you feel the bumps and see this little person on the u/s it is so much more real. I don't think you really wrap your mind around it for sure until you are holding them in your arms though. I am so very blessed and happy to be expecting this little one! People think we are crazy for having a fifth but I don't care. I am loving it!

Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
I just went for my first sonogram today and I am 18 weeks.. I found out the sex. My doctors office called and said they need to do a repeat sonogram because they couldn't see everything.

The entire time during the sonogram my baby was positioned face down. I'm wondering if the positioning of the baby had something to do with why they couldn't see everything they needed? Or if there is something else?

Eating Deli Meat During Pregnancy

Kimberly A. Tessmer's picture

Dear Nutritionist,
I am very worried I did something harmful for my baby. I am 19 weeks pregnant.

I went to Panera for lunch and got a chicken sandwich. I ate a few big bites before it occurred to me that the cold chicken might be a bad idea. I looked it up and realized that we are not to eat cold chicken sandwiches while pregnant.

How badly did I mess up? What are the odds I've hurt by baby?

Placenta Covers OS - 18 Weeks Pregnant

Jane Foley's picture

Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
Hi, I had bleeding and strong BH contractions after intercourse with my partner which lasted for 2 days. I'm 18 weeks pregnant.

My scan says this..

The placenta lies mainly on the left lateral wall, however it covers the internal os. No obvious hemorrhage seen.

As my placenta covers the os, what are the chances of it moving by the time I am 38 weeks? I know that 90% of LLP move enough for a normal birth, however as mine covers the internal os are the chances still as high?

Stretch Marks

For anyone out there wanting to keep stretch marks away, a friend told me during my 1st pregnancy to use Bag Balm. You get it at any drug store. It is a nasty looking, nasty smelling and very greasy. I was huge with my son and I smeared it faithfully all over my stomach and breasts. I never got one stretch mark on my entire body from pregnancy. Now I am 6 months pregnant with my 2nd child and faithfully smearing bag balm all over again, and I have elastic skin. Not one stretch mark appearing.

Help with 1st Ultrasound Results

Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
Hi, At 17.5 weeks, I had my first ultrasound. At the ultrasound, the tech said that I most likely would have to be seen again, since she couldn't get everything that she needed. The baby would not cooperate.

When I went back to midwife today, she referred me to a Maternal Fetal Med. doctor who will perform a level II ultrasound. She said that the scan was incomplete. It didn't show the upper lip, all parts of the heart & the bladder. Also, it showed that the baby had a choroid plexus cyst. She said not to be concerned but how can I not be?
