QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I am 37 weeks and have been having consistent contractions for the past 4 days. They typically are 15-20 minutes apart, but some have been as close as 5-7. They do not go away or slow down no matter what I am doing.

I'm wondering if I should call my doctor and how long I can expect this part to go on. I am even waking up every 45-60 minutes at night with them. Can I do anything to get things going quicker? My nerves are shot! HELP!!

Dr. Appointment

Had a dr. appointment this past Tuesday March 31st, 2009. It was interesting, dr. came in and of course asked how I was then as usual we listened to Mady's heart beat. Then he measured my belly and noticed how swollen my ankles and hands were. He then said he would see me in 2 weeks. This to me was odd considering the previous appointment I had the dr. informed me I would be coming in every week. But as usual I do not question their methods and said ok.

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I am 23 years old and currently 27 weeks pregnant. I was recently called in to see a consultant at my hospital who has strongly advised me that I should have an epidural during labor as my BMI is 44.5 They are saying I am at greater risk of complications so should have an epidural because of this.

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
Hello, I just wanted to ask. I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant (counting tomorrow) and my baby was measuring just the right size up until the 28th week. Now my doctor is saying my baby is a bit bigger than the average, 29weeks and 1 day measuring 1540grams. My current weight right now is 66kg, I was 59kg before I got pregnant.

Moody

This morning just happened to be one of those mornings where I woke up and felt that I was snapping at Bobby. Yes now the more I sit at work away from him and think about it I do feel that some of my moodiness was uneccessary but how do I avoid it? I have been pretty good throughout my pregnancy, moodiness that is. I don't feel that I have been the pregnant woman from hell. Maybe he can say differently but I would honestly be shocked if he did. I don't know, I do know I am just not feeling that I am myself today.

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I am 32+5 weeks pregnant.

This baby was a surprise, I had no idea I was pregnant until I did the test to rule it out! I have no idea when my LMP was and when I found out, I thought I was maybe about 8 weeks. I went for my dating scan at what I thought was 12 weeks and they said I was 17 weeks. They gave me a due date of May 27th 2009 from the information they got during the ultrasound.

34 weeks coming up

Currently at 33 weeks but excited that everything is moving quickly, or at least to me it feels that way. I can remember when my fiance and I first found out and we had the ultra-sound done. Then I was around 6weeks 5 days!!! wow. I am concerned that my dr. was a bit off with my EDD. Could this be so? My mom had the same feeling when she was pregnant with me but of course everyone told her not to worry that the dr. couldn't be wrong and low and behold I myself was a month late. She almost lost me when they did the emergency C-section.
