Working During Pregnancy

Pregnant at 16

I never thought I'd find myself pregnant at 16. When I found out, I kind of already knew, so I wasn't as shocked when 3 pregnancy tests showed that I am. All I could think was that I had to get an abortion because of the medication I'm on, I didn't really want to, but the father kept telling me it wouldn't be fair to keep it since it would have severe physical and mental defects. Little did I know that it was only because he didn't want it.
I told my 13 year old sister, and she was able to keep it a secret until she got angry with our mother.

Working as Swimming Instructor with Preschoolers

Cynthia Flynn's picture

Dear Midwife,
I am a swimming instructor teaching multiples preschoolers. I am very concerned because the doctor told me today to make my own decision to continue teaching small kids. He said: "Small kids carry lots of infections, you will need to make that decision yourself."

I do not want to risk anything. The money is good, but not worth it if I can get any diseases.

Should I be worry? I'm not sure what to do? I also teach adults.. Should adults/teen/older kids be ok?

Thanks a lot for listing,

Vet Tech work while pregnant

Dear Midwife,
Recently found out I am pregnant. I am probably about 5-6 wks. I work as a veterinary technician. I haven't been to my first appointment yet but was wondering about my job risks.

I work mostly with dogs and cats. Daily job duties can include: cleaning cages and litter boxes, walking dogs, using strong cleaning agents and disinfectants such as bleach pine sol and roccal, sweeping & mopping, restraining animals (including dogs big and small as well as aggressive animals), taking x-rays, assisting in surgeries, dealing with bodily fluids of all types.

Today is overwhelming

Ah, how I missed the roller coaster ride of hormones that comes with pregnancy. Yesterday I couldn't have been more excited, yet today I'm a ball of stress on the verge of tears. Where are we going to get the extra money for another mouth to feed? How am I going to keep working at the veterinary hospital where chemo and x-rays are a part of my daily routine? How will I deal with a 15 month old and a newborn at the same time?

Help please

I am an active duty member in the Air Force and I work in an "Industrial area". I am an aircraft maintainer by trade. My Commander is trying to get to me to work the snack bar, which normally would be no big deal, just wear gloves when you handle the money, right? However, the snackbar is located right next to our tool and hazzardious materials storage areas. These tools are covered in air craft grease, jet fuel, and oil. The snack bar is still in the industrial area and I'm worried about my unborn baby being around the fumes and all those hazzardious materials.

Positive Moms

We are expecting our third baby in September and we are so excited. We work from home, so we get to enjoy every minute of our 2 little sons and this pregnancy. I love sharing the opportunity with other moms and dads because we have been so placed to be a part of this business and community. or 888-359-7508.
