You'll probably receive ABO/Rh blood typing to check for blood compatibility between you and baby.

You might be staring to leak is actually called colostrum, which is a milky yellowish substance but is not actual breastmilk. This usually starts in the second trimester.

You might have noticed changes in your breasts. Your breasts are getting ready to produce breastmilk.

The placenta weighs about an ounce. It will weigh about 1.5 pounds at birth.

Skim milk, bread, and vegetables provide vitamins, calcium and protein. Eat your spinach! Drink your juice, and veggies! If you can afford to, buy organic, read labels, learn more about what you and your baby are eating and drinking.

The wee bean is now about as big as a small magnetic paper clip holder. Getting there!

Many women develop a dark line on their abdomen. This is called a linea negra. It usually goes from your belly button down to your pubic mound.

Baby's vocal chords develop. They can cry (very quietly).

Baby weighs 1.52 ounces or 43 grams and is 3.42 inches or 8.7 cm long. You should place the lap belt of your seat belt under your abdomen. This protects you and your unborn baby!

You may start to feel better with less nausea and mood-swings. However, it's normal to continue with morning sickness and hormonal changes.

The baby's finger and toe nails are starting to grow from their nail beds. Remember to pack small scissors or special finger nail clippers in your birthing supplies.

As your ligaments and muscles begin to stretch to accommodate your growing uterus, you may start feeling some cramp-like pains. Make sure to call your doctor if it is accompanied with fever, bloody discharge, or if the pain becomes unbearable.

Feeling congested? Nasal congestion is common during pregnancy from swelling in the mucous membranes. Ask your physician which medications are safe during pregnancy before taking anything.

During the next few weeks, you may be asked to take an AFP (alphafetoprotein) screening test. Make sure you do your research and ask questions of your practitioner to be sure about the benefits and drawbacks of AFP testing.

A heating pad or hot water added to a towel can help those aching back muscles and provide some relief.

15 wks LMP (13 wks gestation)
Baby weighs 2.47 ounces or 70 grams. Baby is 3.98 inches or 10.1 cm long. You're in the Second Trimester!

Early movements like butterfly flutters can be felt as early as 14 or 15 wks, although most women feel movement around wks 18-20.

Wearing support hose, watching your weight gain, and elevating your feet can reduce swelling (edema) that can occur with pregnancy.
