Abdominal Pains And Vaginal Discharge in Early Pregnancy
QUESTION
Dear Midwife,
I have a question I just found out I'm pregnant a few days ago, I'm about 5 weeks pregnant.
I was wondering if its normal to have abdominal pain (similar to the ones I get when I'm on my period) and also been having a little of vaginal discharge (but the its kind of brownish). I'm worried about these symptoms. Are they normal or not?
ANSWER
Brownish discharge usually means old blood. Given how far along you are, there is a very good chance that you had a small implantation bleed, which is often also accompanied by uterine cramping.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
