Any Suggestions for Conceiving After Having Tubes Untied?

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I had my tubes untied in September 2003 and I have still not gotten pregnant. I am 32, I have two children 10 and 12 had no problem getting pregnant with them. My husband had a sperm count, number good. I had the test to make sure tubes were open, both are open. We generally have sex on average 4 to 5 times per week. No luck. Any suggestions?

Please help, I am getting older fast.

ANSWER

I don't have anything to add. Possibly the cilia in the tubes were somewhat damaged in the process so that the egg doesn't move down the tubes in the normal way. You are still pretty young, but if you haven't conceived by the end of summer, you may want to consult a specialist and/or consider in vitro fertilization and by-pass the tubes altogether
