Been Bleeding Almost a Month

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
Hi. We are trying to conceive and it's kind of been difficult to figure out what days to really try because my periods are irregular. They always have been irregular. Any ideas how to maybe chart this out? I feel pregnant now but the test came back negative we were together on the July 2nd, 3rd and 12th, 13th (he travels) and I had my period for almost the whole month of June (doctor says because of quiting the patch almost 1½ months ago) so therefore I don't know when my last period was. Any ideas?

ANSWER

For many women, it is not so easy to conceive before your cycles re-regulate after being on hormones. It sounds like you are one of those women. But it would be unusual for you to bleed for a month after coming off the patch -- that's a new one on me! I'd suggest using the tool on this site to start charting your bleeds (more than 2 regular pads/day) and temperatures. Hopefully, you will see when you are ovulating. Good luck!
