Black Shirataki Noodles

QUESTION

Dear Nutritionist,
Is it safe to eat Black Shirataki noodles, which are made from Yam flour (Konja root) during pregnancy?

ANSWER

I have never heard of these noodles but from what I have read online I don't see anything that says they are unsafe to eat during pregnancy. They do seem quite fiberous and therefore maybe be hard on your digestion since in pregnancy that tends to slow down a bit. So all I can think is that they MAY cause some intestinal upset.
