Bleeding From The Sac

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I had a ultrasound done and I was told of bleeding from the sac. Whats this and what can happen?

I'm 6 weeks, the baby has a good heart beat at 120 per minutes.

ANSWER

It means that you are at higher risk for miscarriage. However, sometimes these bleeds resolve on their own, and women go on to carry a healthy baby to term. As long as the baby seems to be doing ok, not to worry!
