Dear Ms Ultrasound,
In your twenty years experience have you ever seen a calcium deposit in the baby's heart? I am so worried and have no answers from my doctor yet. I had an amnio and the baby looked fine the doctor said but he did tell me about the calcium deposit like it was no big deal. Now I have to wait two weeks for the test results from the amnio to come back from the lab. Please let me know if you have ever seen one of these before?
Hi, Renee. Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. I have researched this and have found nothing on calcification in a fetal heart.
Without seeing the images I would have a hard time commenting on this. I would also be interested in a follow-up from you to find out what exactly this is.
After discussing this with some of my colleagues our first guess would be some kind of technical artifact. (Nothing real.)
I hope your amnio results were fine and this was one of those ultrasound glitch's on the radar, that just disappear.
