Can I Countine With My Current Vitamin Routine?

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I just took a home pregnancy test and it's positive. Can I continue my vitamin routine that I have currently?

I take 1 multi vitamin, 1 super b complex and 1 cinnamon daily. I also take folic acid about once a week with these as well. Do I need to change this????

ANSWER

Yes, while you are pregnant you need 800mcg of folic acid each day, and most women need extra iron as well, both of which are contained in prenatal vitamins, but you can just add them yourself if you'd prefer.
