QUESTION
Dear Midwife,
Can I get pregnant the first day after my period?
ANSWER
It is very difficult, but not impossible. Sperm can last up to 7 days, and if you have a long period and ovulate early, yes, it can happen.
If you are not ready to become a parent, you might want to consider effective contraception.
