Can You Recommend a Good Book?

Dear Lactation Consultant,
Are there good and bad breastfeeding books out on the market?

There are definitely good and bad breastfeeding books. One of my favorites is Bestfeeding, (2000) by Renfrew, Fisher, and Arms. It is full of pictures, charts, and diagrams on how to get breastfeeding comfortable for you and your baby.

I would caution against books that are not written by people with breastfeeding expertise. For example, the What to Expect books may be good in other ways, but the authors are not breastfeeding experts. I'm also not fond of the Baby Whisperer. I don't think the suggestions she offers are backed up by the current research.
