Enlarged Uterus But Negative Pregnancy Test

QUESTION

I have gotten negative urine pregnancy tests but I am hard like a brick above my pubic bone over the last few weeks. It's the size of a grapefuit but it's larger on the right side. It's like my uterus is elevated over my whole bikini line area and above pubic bone.

It has been six weeks, four days past my last period. I was wondering if I am pregnant and not showing up on urine yet. Could that be where it implanted and is growing out from there or what? Or is it something more serious?

Thank you for your time.

ANSWER

IF you were not using contraception and you were having regular periods and now you have missed one but still test negative, I'd say it would be a good idea to get things checked out. Chances are that everything is okay and it will turn out to be one of those things we just never have a good explanation for and you will get your period next month and everything will be fine.

But just on the off-chance that it is something else, you should be checked.

On the other hand, if you are just coming off hormonal contraception or you have not been having regular periods, this could be "normal" for you at this time.

Good luck!
