No Period for Two Months... Possibly Pregnant?

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I have been trying to get pregnant and believe I am maybe about 3 or 4 weeks. I took a pregnancy test yesterday but it came back neg.

I have not had a period in about 2 months but I was never regular. I had slight cramping and nausea some constipation, dizziness, light bleeding about 1 month ago. I've also felt uncomfortable with my jeans being to tight on my stomach and I fell as though I can't sleep on my stomach any longer. I believe I am pregnant but the negative pregnancy test makes me feel as though I'm just looking for something thats not there.

When would you suggest taking another test and or going to the doctor?

ANSWER

If your periods are irregular, then it is sometimes hard to tell if anything unusual is actually going on. If you think you have already missed two periods and still test negative, then it is time for a check-up to find out what is going on. Good luck!
