Riomet OD While Trying To Conceive?

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I have been trying to conceive since 6 months. My Ob/Gyn has prescribed me to take Riomet OD 500 mg twice a day. But I read in internet that Riomet OD is not supposed to take while trying to conceive. Is this right? If so then why did my OB/Gyn prescribed it?

I am confused now whether to take Riomet or not.

ANSWER

For some women, metformin is exactly what is needed for conception to occur, and it is usually continued during the pregnancy. It is Pregnancy Category B, which is safe, so I don't know what internet site you were using.
