Is is Safe to Continue Running During Pregnancy?


Dear Fitness Expert,
Can I continue to run after I conceive? I am currently running about 5-6 days a week for 30 minutes.


Absolutely! Given the fact that you are already a runner and will simply continue a training regiment your body is already adjusted to, this should not be a problem for you. If you are like most pregnant runners, you will simply modify as your pregnancy moves along. This is a perfect time of year as it is less likely to get too hot. Still, you want to check you inner core temperature and drink plenty of water.

Having said all this, you must, must, must first consult your OB/GYN and discuss your current training routine and what, when, how you plan to continue.
