Swelling Hands and Feet?

QUESTION

Dear Doula,
I've been experiencing swelling in my feet and hands for the last couple of days. I am 37-weeks pregnant and I can't seem to get any relief. I have stopped my salt intake and have been drinking plenty of water as suggested by my doctor and I'm still experiencing swelling. What should I do now?

ANSWER

You may find excellent relief from this condition by increasing your protein intake to 100 grams of protein per day. Choosing to do this has helped so many women who experience swelling.

Limiting salt is not the answer and could even make it worse.

There are protein counters online and if you write down everything you eat, find and count the protein grams on these protein counters, you can see how much you are getting each day and add more protein as needed.
