Dear Fitness Expert,
Will regular usage of tanning beds effect my chances of getting pregnant?
While there is no scientific correlation between tanning and conception, the American Medical Association along with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology highly discourage this practice. Unclean tanning beds can be a breeding ground for germs and bacteria, not to mention the damage done to your skin.
While this is presumably all news you have heard/read before, you are obviously thinking about motherhood. Now is the time to begin caring for yourself -- this means long term care of your health. Once you become pregnant, your OB/GYN will become more vocal about discouraging tanning. Try instant sprays or lotion. While they are only temporary, they are far healthier.
