I am 5 weeks pregnant. I am experiencing back pains, but no bleeding. I had a miscarriage last year and had sharp pains in the lower back with bleeding. It is not that severe. I never have back problems.

I am 40 years old with 3 children already. I had a miscarriage almost a year ago, and now I'm 8 weeks pregnant.
I went last week to my ob-gyn and had the vaginal and the regular ultrasound but the Dr. couldn't find a heartbeat. Is this normal? Dr said that maybe is too early.

Last week, when my period should have occurred, I had one instance of spotting. I thought I was starting my period, but I wasn't. Tonight, I spotted again.
