  • Baby Stuff -- What do you need?

Pretty much everything about being pregnant is intimidating the first time out, but nothing is quite so intimidating, in quite the same way, as the Baby Stuff. Strollers, car seats, slings, carriers, bottles, nipples, blankets, bears, lotions, and, dare we mention rectal thermometers! Read "Baby Stuff -- What do you need?" to learn about what new mothers really need.

  • Dishwasher basket

I found this basket after my son was already using sippy cups and I LOVE it!

It's perfect for putting bottle nipples and rings in the dishwasher. It's also perfect for putting straws for sippy cups or lids, too.

I have given one of these baskets to everyone I know that is pregnant. They all tell me after they have had their babies how much they love this product. It is relatively cheap and can be used for other items when not used for baby items.

  • Kiddopotamus Bibbity

I love these bibs for when baby is older and learning to self feed. I still use one for my almost three year old. They catch food spills and are super easy to clean! You can top rack dish washer clean them or throw them in the sink with the dishes. Saves on laundry! They also roll up nicely for storage in a diaper bag; handy when eating out! We also use the place mats (called a tiny diner) in the same line and find them helpful too!

Your partner is freaking out about the pregnancy! Since during the first trimester he's not going to be able to see any real evidence that a baby actually exists, it's likely to be about intangible things. Here's a list of common concerns for first time dads during the first trimester.

  • Twins! Twice as Much Stuff?

Expectant mothers of multiples want to know whether it has to be twice the gear. The answer, from Pregnancy.org mothers of multiples, is that it doesn't have to be. You don't really need two of everything, just enough of all the right things. Read "It's Twins! Twice as Much Stuff?" for more.

  • Orbit Baby Stroller

    • bassinet

I would just like to say I haven't had my little one yet. But my best friend has a 4 month old, so I knew what I wanted when I was thinking baby gear.

I know it's early but with the crazy price tag I ran out and bought it ASAP before I could let common sense come into play. The orbit baby system is awesome and yes it costs a butt load of money but its way more practical and handy then a bugaboo, and the car seat is one of the safest on the market.

  • Chicco Cortina KeyFit

We bought the Chicco Cortina KeyFit Travel system and we love it! Our baby isn't even here yet, but so far it's been such a great product and worth the few extra dollars we paid. If you are shopping around and unsure of which travel system to purchase, seriously consider this one.

  • Bumbo Baby Sitter

    • Bumbo Baby Sitter

Bumbo Baby Sitter - great investment. Does require supervision!

No assembly required. Easy to clean! It is excellent for young 3 mo. - 4 year olds! My children use it to watch TV. I use it to help feed baby. It helps if you have a high chair and baby wobbles around. Very simple product, but for me it has been a life saver! Great investment!

    Cons:
Unless you are on the floor you can't leave the child alone in it. No seat belt or restraint. For that reason I give it a 5.

  • Sandy's Surprise -- Shopping for Capris

Yesterday Tim and I went shopping for a pair of capris for me and ended up getting Baby Boy a bunch of stuff instead! It was so much fun though! Old Navy was having an awesome sale and we couldn't resist. Here's what we got him:

  • Parenting Preparation Checklist

If you are a first-time parent, you may be struggling with getting prepared for the task. Fortunately, you have time to get ready. Talking with friends and family who have children can help.

  • Sandy's Surprise -- Holton Monitor

Read All of Sandy's Surprise -- A Pregnancy Journal

I made a small (one and a half minutes) video montage of our journey so far to our little miracle! You can watch it here. It was fun seeing my belly progression as I went through the pictures. It's amazing how far this little baby has come!

  • Dogs and Baby equipment

One of the most basic ways parents can help prepare their family dog is to expose them to the baby equipment prior to its use with an actual baby. I advise that Grandparents, guardians and childcare providers that have dogs also take these simple steps to evaluate their own dog and circumstances.

  • PUSH: Death in the Jungle

Sarah has been trying to get me to babysit our infant niece. A four-hour dry run for the terrors of fatherhood isn't the worst idea in the world, I suppose, but I am far too spineless to do it alone.

  • Sandy's Surprise -- Prime Journaling Time

Today Tim and I went baby shopping! It was fun, and very tiring! People were right when they told me to get it all done by 6 months -- wish I would've listened! We were only gone for about 4 hours (and 2 of that was driving time) but I was still exhausted when we got home.
