QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I am 17 years old and my boyfriend is 18. We love each other very much and plan to marry when I turn 18. Well, my mother died years ago and I have longed for a mother-child relationship. My father could care less if I die. While I was growing up, my main priority has been a family and becoming a mother. I do want to go to college but I would like to wait and have a child.

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I'm almost nineteen and my boyfriend and I have decided to start trying to get pregnant, but I have a few questions.

First, almost two years ago I got a pap and they said I had HPV. I got treatment for it and went back the next year and they said everything was fine. Could I still have it and if I do could HPV harm my baby when I am pregnant or giving birth?

Second, I still have my hymen, the skin that is supposed to go away when your younger. Should I get it removed before giving birth?

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I had my ACL reconstructed on June 9th of this year (knee surgery) and know that they would've given my anti-biotics to fight infections. I am on the pill and had my period about a week and a half ago. But for the past two weeks have been quite nauseous no matter what time of day; whether I eat or don't eat. Is it possible to be pregnant?

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
Hi! I stopped my contraceptive (Nu-istrate) during April and I started menstruating on the 10th of July. I'm planning my second baby.

When will the right date be for trying? Will the injection be out of my system this quickly? I wondered because they normally tells you it takes time before you will conceive again.
