fetal heart rate

  • Is My Baby's Fetal Heartrate Too High?

    QUESTION

Hello! At my first ultrasound, the baby's heart rate was 154 BPM and all looked well. At ten weeks 2 days, a friend let me borrow her home doppler, which shows baby's heart rate. It started out at 192, was 188 the next day, and has remained in the 180's since.

  • Low Fetal Heart Rate in Early Pregnancy

    QUESTION

    Dear Midwife,
I had an ultrasound last week when I was 6 weeks pregnant. We saw the baby, yolk sac, and heartbeat!! However, the ultrasound tech was concerned that the baby's heart rate was low, 86. She said this can be normal early in pregnancy and will hopefully pick up by the time I have my follow up ultrasound in 1 week.

I am trying not to worry, but I know 86 is a very low number. Is there any hope that this can still be a viable pregnancy? Is it true that it can be normal to have a low heart rate early in pregnancy and have it pick up?

    Thanks! :)

  • Large Yolk Sac, Low Heart Rate?

    QUESTION

    Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
I had my first ultrasound yesterday (Jan 7) and I just came from the doctor's office. My last period was Nov 10, which would make me LMP 8w2d, but I know I ovulated late (Nov 28) because I was artificially inseminated on Nov 28/29.

The ultrasound showed my yolk sac was 6mm, which is apparently larger than the normal range by 0.2mm and the heart rate was 109bpm which is just a little low of the normal heart rate. She said these numbers wouldn't matter if I was over 8 weeks, but the ultrasound dated me at just over 6weeks?

  • Doppler Use at Home

    QUESTION

    Dear Midwife,
I have rented a doppler so I can hear my baby's heart beat at home. Its the same one the doctors use at the office.

But I can't seem to hear the baby heart beat like we did in the doctors office. All I hear is my own heart beat.

I am wondering if something is wrong, if there is still a live fetus.

  • No Fetal Heartbeat

    QUESTION

    Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
I went yesterday to my first pre-natal visit. The Dr. did a Vaginal U/S and the baby is measuring 6 week where the Dr. and stating I should be almost 8. She also was unable to find a heartbeat. She then gave me two choices, to come back in one week or go ahead and set up a D&C. I choose to go back in one week. What are my chances? I am so worried. Thanks

  • Does Heartrate Drop as the Baby Gets Older?

    QUESTION

    Dear Ms Ultrasound,
I had a scan at 8 weeks and they said the fetal heartrate was 180 bpm. I bought a doppler and at 10 weeks the heartrate was 165, at 11 weeks it was 158 and at 12 weeks it was 150. The heart rate seems to be dropping by about 8 bpm a week. Is this normal or is my baby in trouble?

    Regards,
    Susan
