It's well-known that folic acid is part of a healthy regimen for getting pregnant and during pregnancy. What isn't as well-known is that not all women metabolize folic acid in the same way. This could mean that the recommended daily dosage of 400 micrograms may not be enough for everyone.
Folic acid is especially important for women who are able to get pregnant. When a woman has enough folic acid in her body before and during pregnancy, it can prevent major birth defects.
Prenatal vitamins: Best friend of pregnancy health; worst enemy of the pregnant woman. Swallow some of these tips to ease that pain-in-the-pill.
I've just realized that I have been taking an overdose of folic acid (5 mg a day) for several weeks by mistake.
How dangerous can it be and what can I do for that now? I am five weeks pregnant, have had a miscarriage in the past and feeling nervous about the whole thing, even more now that I realized I've done such a big mistake!
Is there anything I can do?
I just took a home pregnancy test and it's positive. Can I continue my vitamin routine that I have currently?
I take 1 multi vitamin, 1 super b complex and 1 cinnamon daily. I also take folic acid about once a week with these as well. Do I need to change this????
Eating healthy is one of the most important things you can do for your baby. During pregnancy, a developing child may require expectant moms to double some of their normal nutrient needs. But proper nutrition is also something to strive for even before you conceive.
I was wondering if there are certain foods and vitamins to help conceive. I have two healthy boys. After having my boys I was on birth control for two years. First I tried the pill and that got me sick then I went on the shot for about 9 months and then took my self off the shot to try the patch so that I could get pregnant right away when were ready. The patch only lasted a day because it got me really sick. I took it off the second day.
My husband and I have been trying for our first baby for nearly 10 months. We have been unsuccessful so far. I am taking folic tablets on a daily basis but is there any particular vitamins or mineral my husband should be taking?
Please do advise
Is it safe to get pregnant after only taking folic acid for 1 month?
We have decided that we would like to start trying to get pregnant next month, but I have only just started taking the vitamin. Should we wait?
