missed period

  • Negative Tests. Symptoms All in My Head?

    QUESTION

    Dear Midwife,
I am currently on my 38th day of my cycle -- no period. I usually have one at the 28th-30th day. I am having trouble with heartburn, urinating a lot more then usual, and I sometimes am dizzy with nausea. Am I pregnant or is it something else?

I've taken four home tests and all come out negative. When can I get tested by the doctor and is it all in my head or am I truly pregnant?

  • No Period After Stopping Birth Control.

    QUESTION

    Dear Midwife,
I was on birth control for 4 years. I decided to stop taking it the beginning of August this year to ttc. After stopping I had a normal period. Since then I have not had one at all. It has been 4 months. I have had times where I have spotted for a day or two, but never a regular period.

Prior to birth control I always had regular and on time periods. I have taken pregnancy tests and they have all been negative. My question is, should this be something to be worried about or is the BC still working it's way out of my system completely?

  • Can I Be Pregnant with End Stage Renal Disease

    QUESTION

    Dear Midwife,
I have ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) and my periods are pretty normal. I get treatments three times a week and never missed one.

I read up on the internet that women with ESRD can get pregnant but because of the treatments there is a chance that it will be harder for them.

    Dear Midwife,

  • Negative HPT

    QUESTION

    Dear Midwife,

  • Why Would I Feel So Pregnant With Negative Tests?

    QUESTION

    Dear Ms Ultrasound,
I recently started feeling very pregnant. I have three other children so I know all the signs. I took several home pregnancy tests and the last one was positive. I went to the doctors because my tubes are tied. He did a pelvic exam and said my cervix shows the signs of being pregnant but my uterus is tipped so he could not feel it. He sent me for an ultrasound but they claim they do not see anything. I am waiting for the results of the blood test. What could be going on?

  • Should I Put on My Patch Without a Period?

    QUESTION

    Dear Midwife,
I am on OrthoEvra and am now 2 weeks late. I do not have any common symptoms (morning sickness, sore breasts, frequent urination). I do have an increased body temperature, body aches and get light headed sometimes. I have taken HPT's (one 3 days after my missed period and one 10 days after my missed period) which come up negative. I am worried about putting on my patch since I have not had a period yet. Should I be concerned about being pregnant? When should I consult a physician?

  • Your Body's Changes and Baby's Growth, 0-12 weeks

At the time of conception an egg is fertilized, thereby creating a unique new cell. The cell divides very quickly into many more cells and at about 1 week after conception this tiny mass of cells attach itself to the wall of the uterus (implantation).
