Morning Sickness help from Accupressure points

wanderin's picture

I have a 45 minute bus ride every morning followed by a 15 minute walk through the heart of San Francisco. The bus is bumpy and jerky and smelly. It's been very challenging for me to get to work and home with the morning sickness I'm experiencing. I remembered that once while on my friend's sailboat, he offered me sea bands which are simple elastic bands that have a small hard plastic ball that applies a small bit of pressure to the inside of your wrist. This special acupressure point helps with nausea.

Six Weeks

Hit the six week mark today. Like clockwork, also got my first bout of proper morning sickness a few bites into my orange. About halfway through it though I felt all right again, so hopefully it will stay as mild as that.

Belly is about 30.5" around at this point, pretty close to normal, especially after I've just eaten something.

Nipples are getting tender which makes it a bit difficult to sleep. Really not wanting to get out of bed the last couple mornings.

Nic's Nerves - Not through the sickness yet!

Well, I thought that I was through the worst of the morning sickness....but I have been proven wrong! The last few days have left me able to do very little except lie around, sleep and catch up on my xmas reading.

Feeling horribly guilty for my in-action but I'm still terribly happy to be pregnant even if it is tough right now. I'm reasoning that it won't last for ever, and at the very most I shouldn't be this sick for more than a few days, before things start to ease off.

Nic's Nerves - Feeling better and worse at the same time.

Well yesterday I had my first Prenatal appointment so that was pretty exciting! My Doc. put me down as being 9 weeks pregnant which was 1/2 a week more than I was thinking. She asked me to come back in a couple of weeks so that she could listen for the heart beat. Her comment was "If we can hear the heart beat, then you'll be fine." I really like her, not only is she a great obstratition/GP but she is a mother of two young kids and has experienced 2 miscarriages. She talks from experience.

Discomfort and Pain in Early Pregnancy?

Cynthia Flynn's picture

Dear Midwife,
I'm approximately 11 weeks pregnant, and so far I have had almost every second day horrible morning sickness that prevents me from really eating anything. What should I do?

Also, seeing as how I'm so early along, is it normal for my tummy to go really hard and huge (like I'm 5 or 6 months along) and feel like Braxton Hicks contractions?

Depression During Pregnancy

Dear Experts,
I need some help and I don't know where else to turn. I am 20 weeks pregnant with my first child at age 35 and feel I may have become seriously depressed. I first mentioned this to my OB at about week 8 and he basically blew me off. In all fairness though, it's a group practice and you don't really get to know any of the physicians very well.
