QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I had my tubes untied in September 2003 and I have still not gotten pregnant. I am 32, I have two children 10 and 12 had no problem getting pregnant with them. My husband had a sperm count, number good. I had the test to make sure tubes were open, both are open. We generally have sex on average 4 to 5 times per week. No luck. Any suggestions?

Please help, I am getting older fast.

Dear Midwife,I am a 35-year-old white female with 3 successful pregnancies. My first was born when I was 21. They are 5-15 years old. I am now married again and my new husband has no children and wants one of his own desperately. I am healthy, but I am obese at approximately 185 pounds and 5'4". I do not have regular periods....they are from 28-40 days, so we can't tell when I ovulate. We make love almost on a daily basis.

QUESTION

Dear Fitness Expert,
What are the earliest symptoms of pregnancy. I have been on Lupron for the past 3 months and my doctor has given us the ok to try to get pregnant. This is going to be challenging because I have not had my period for 3 months.

Where do I start and how soon will I be able to know if what I am trying is working? When is the earliest I can take a pregnancy test?

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
My husband and I are both 36 years old. We tried for 11½ years before getting pregnant for the first time (without any fertility treatments tried). I did develop gestational diabetes during the pregnancy. Our healthy baby boy was born via cesarean section 5 weeks ago and we have two questions.

  1. When can we begin to try to conceive again?
  2. How long should we try before seeking help from the OB-GYN?

We want to try again as soon as we could as we feel our age is an issue.

Thanks for your time and advice,
Sarah

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I recently had a blood test to see if I was pregnant; it came back negative. Could it have been too early to see? I am only a week late but have some symptoms that I had my last pregnancy. I use to be on a 28-day cycle but now it has gone to around 31 days and I am one week past that.

My husband and I are trying. We have had two miscarriages and are getting discouraged. I know that I can carry a pregnancy as I have a two year old. We desperately want another. Does Geritol work?

Will Pregnancy Be too Risky with Osteopenia?

QUESTION

Dear Fitness Expert,
I am a 36-year-old Brazilian mother of a 5-year-old child and would like to have my second baby. The problem is that in 2000 I broke my left knee and later found out I had osteopenia (a phase before the osteoporosis). Later I also had a rib fracture while I was coughing during a cold episode. It has been treated with calcium and vitamin D supplements and it has shown to be stable so far.
