At my first (transvaginal) ultrasound, the technician measured the black dot and said I was approximately 3 weeks and 6 days. Prior to my ultrasound, my doctor had looked at my BBT chart and estimated that I was about 5 weeks along, so there was a difference of about a week.
I didn't worry too much, but I had experienced a little bleeding so the doctor had me come in for blood tests just to make sure my hormone level was rising properly, which it is.
Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
I went for my first ultrasound yesterday and I am about 7 weeks pregnant.
When I asked if everything looked ok the lab tech said yes but it is too early to really say. She showed me the heartbeat and sent the results to the doctor. I went home worry free.
Today I got a call from my doctor saying that I had an irregular yolk sac. She said something about it being thicker than normal. I asked her if I should be worried, and she told me to have another ultrasound.
Is there any more information you can give me about this?
I had my last period at the beginning of January, we are unsure of the date though. We got a positive pregnancy test the first week of February which we were assuming at that point I could've been 3-4 weeks along because we had been charting ovulation.
Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
I had my first ultrasound yesterday (Jan 7) and I just came from the doctor's office. My last period was Nov 10, which would make me LMP 8w2d, but I know I ovulated late (Nov 28) because I was artificially inseminated on Nov 28/29.
The ultrasound showed my yolk sac was 6mm, which is apparently larger than the normal range by 0.2mm and the heart rate was 109bpm which is just a little low of the normal heart rate. She said these numbers wouldn't matter if I was over 8 weeks, but the ultrasound dated me at just over 6weeks?
