Breastfeeding is widely accepted as the best way to get your infant the nutrition he or she needs. It is a beautiful natural process which women and babies have been doing for centuries.
Breast feeding has significant benefits to both mother and baby. With many moms returning to work before the baby is ready to wean, information on choosing the best pump is essential.
This is not an information sheet on all the ins and outs of working outside the home and breastfeeding. This sheet provides information on how your baby can be fed when you are not with him.
Dear Lactation Consultant,
I've breastfed successfully and love it, but I still find myself asking is there a way to make those first few days a bit easier with the engorgement?
Getting past the first 2-3 days when my milk comes in is tough and the part I dread the most.
Many women are under the impression that it is necessary to own or use a pump to breastfeed. This is not so. There are very few circumstances under which it is necessary to express your milk. But women are being encouraged to pump their milk and give it to baby via bottle for the most unnecessary reasons...
Dear Lactation Consultant,
Hi. I was unable to breastfeed my first child for several reasons. He was given a bottle first because he was sick and I think I didn't produce enough milk. I am a month and a half pregnant and I am wondering if there is something I can do right now that will increase the milk flow when I do give birth. I will also be letting my doctor know that I had problems and will see about getting help for latching on but I wonder if I can change my diet or something now that may help. I would appreciate you letting me know of anything.
