A strange new journey

Hi,

My name is Melissa & I am currently pregnant with my first baby! My husband & I are over-joyed with the news. I have pollycystic ovarian syndrome & didn't think I could get pregnant easily, but it took just two months!

I am about 8 weeks along & am having a bad day. Morning sickness kicked in about 2 weeks ago. That has not been fun. Foods I used to love I can't stomach anymore & I never know what Im in the mood for. Nothing tastes the same as it used to. I don't enjoy eating right now.

Birthing Begins In The Brain

There are three important hormone groups for birthing: endorphins (the pleasure hormones), oxytocin (the love hormone), and prolactin (the mothering hormone). The trick to having a more comfortable birth is, first, understanding what triggers their release and, second, being able to control when they are released and in what quantities.

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
My question is simple. The first day of my menstrual cycle was on 13 June. My husband and I had sex on 23rd, 24th, 28th & 29th of June. My next period is not due until Thursday 12th July.

Is it possible to find out if I am pregnant, now? I have tried a home pregnancy test and it has come up negative. Is it too early to find out by a home test, or do I need to see my doctor, just to make sure? Is there a specific home test that I can do to find out?

Thank you very much for your help
