Surprise

Im 48 missed my monthly that comes faithfully every 28 days and to my surprised I have a bundle of joy that I will for now call My Diamond. I'm excited and want to do all I can to keep healthy and eat right. A little nervous but God and my best friend will get me through my pregnancy. (smile)

Pregnancy in older moms

Its really hard to find information or sites for older moms who are expecting unexpectedly.....
Everything I can find relates to coupes or moms who chose to wait until later in life to start a family or who are dealing with fertility issues.

I did not feel comfortable joining these sites because most of them are or have had a very hard time with trying to become pregnant etc.

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I am a 43-year-old female with a past history of 2 miscarriages. I have had a FTNSVD when I was 26. I had my first miscarriage when I was 42, and it was a blighted ovum. The second miscarriage this year, it was twins. They had low heart rate. They passed, one at 6.5 weeks the other at 7.5 weeks. I decided to have a D&C this last time.

My doctor said it was "probably due to old eggs." I really have a desire to have another baby. Would it be very risky if I were to try again? Is there any chance that I could have a full-term pregnancy?

QUESTION

Dear Midwife,
I turned 40 this past July and I am now seriously thinking of having a baby but I have some real concerns. Am I too old? Would I be putting a child at a high risk of mental impairments? Would deliverer be harder or riskier?

I had a scare that I was pregnant and the thought of it consumed me I was very disappointed that the test was negative. I just don't want to put a child at risk. Thank you for taking the time to talk with me.

Sincerely,
Cheriss
