Is it possible that I have already ovulated and I am showing signs of pregnancy or could it be that I am experiencing the effects of being off birth control for the first time in 2 years?

  • Miscarriage Facts

Intercourse, falling, and exercise does not typically cause a miscarriage. The fetus is well protected by the mother's bones and muscle as well as by the amniotic fluid. There is also no evidence that conceiving while taking birth control pills increases the risk of miscarriage.

  • Getting Pregnant While Breastfeeding

    QUESTION

    Dear Midwife,
I had a baby 7 months ago and am on the pill currently, but I was wondering how would I go about getting pregnant again.

I don't know if I'm ovulating as I breastfeed with starting the baby on other foods as well. Would I be ovulating on the same schedule as I did before I got pregnant? It only took a month of trying before I got pregnant the first time so if that was the case I'd have a general idea of when I'm fertile. Right now I have no clue.

    Thanks a bunch.

The thing is I woke up Monday and found a bit of blood in my pants and again Tuesday and today. I'm not due on my period for 3 weeks. The blood isn't really a normal color. It's like a yellowish color. What does this mean? I'm never early either. Could I be pregnant?

  • Should I Stop Taking Birth Control Pills?

    QUESTION

    Dear Midwife,
My cycle has been WAY off since I've been on birth control (which has been for a year). This last period started a week early and has lasted for a week and a half. I had intercourse at the end of this long period and right after it happened, my period completely stopped. This is very odd for me.

I know on the package of the pills, it says that the pills you take during your period have "inert" ingredients in them. I plan on starting a new pack in a couple of days.
