Dear Midwife,
I am 9 weeks today. I have been really constipated, which I am told is normal. The problem is before I got pregnant my iron was always low and every few months I was on iron pills. Once I got pregnant I stopped taking them, until I saw my doctor to be sure I could still take them (on Thursday).
Dear Midwife,
I am 23 weeks pregnant with my third child. I had two very straightforward pregnancy with my previous two children, apart from a breech which ended up in a caesarean.
This pregnancy has been problematic since the very beginning with cramping and red bleeding on and off during the first trimester and constant headaches(despite normal blood pressure).
Many parents are led to to believe that routine iron supplementation is required for breastfed babies once they reach 6 months of age. Some studies, however, suggest that iron supplementation is unnecessary, unless signs of iron-deficiency anemia are present.
Dear Fitness Expert,
Are there any vitamins or minerals that should not be taken or taken in small doses when you are pregnant? I take a multivitamin / multi-mineral called One Source for Women (a Walmart brand) and would like to know if I can continue to take it if or when I become pregnant.
