At my first (transvaginal) ultrasound, the technician measured the black dot and said I was approximately 3 weeks and 6 days. Prior to my ultrasound, my doctor had looked at my BBT chart and estimated that I was about 5 weeks along, so there was a difference of about a week.
I didn't worry too much, but I had experienced a little bleeding so the doctor had me come in for blood tests just to make sure my hormone level was rising properly, which it is.
Dear Ms Ultrasound,
My husband and I are pregnant after our 2nd round of IVF. I have had two successful pregnancies on my own, but due to my husband's vasectomy, we agreed on IVF. I just had an ultrasound to be sure there was a sac and it was not an ectopic pregnancy. I am scheduled for another ultrasound in 4 days to check for a heartbeat.
Dear Ms Ultrasound,
I took a home test and got a positive result on June 4th and June 5th. My LMP started on May 22nd. On June 5th I went to the ER due to spotting. They did a Beta HCG with a result of 2.4 and an US showing nothing and referred me to my OB.
Dear Ms Ultrasound,
Hi. I found out a few weeks ago that I was pregnant (first pregnancy). The first day of my last menstrual period was June 23 of this year. I was having terrible cramps and was concerned because the nurse at my OB/GYN's office said it could be an ectopic pregnancy. I made an appointment immediately, saw my doctor and was told that the cramps were normal. He did an exam and an ultrasound.
Dear Ms Ultrasound,
At the beginning of my seventh week I had a transvaginal ultrasound and although everything appeared normal -- the size of the fetus was normal and all the surroundings were good, etc. -- there was no fetal heartbeat.

Dear Ms Ultrasound,
I just had a transvaginal ultrasound and although everything appeared normal...cervix closed, uterus six week size, sac size 6 weeks, etc., there was no fetal heartbeat. As the doctor put it, "the uterus is tipped way back there.
